Discounts

This overview provides information about ticket discounts available and a description of passengers who do not require a ticket.

Travelcard

Travelcards give you a 17% discount off the purchase of a single adult ticket.

Children

Children under four years of age travel free of charge when accompanied by an adult (excluding the kindergartens). Children under the age of 16 pay 50% off the single adult fare.

Childeren in kindergarten

From 1st January 2019 kindergartens can travel by bus between 09.00 and 13.00 without paying for the children tickets. The offer is valid for vus departures after 09.00 and before 13.00, all weekdays. Adults pay for an ordinary ticket on the bus. We recommend kindergartens to bring a child seat to the kindergarten children who normally use this. There are seat belts in all buses except from city buses.

Note! The kindergarten need to pay for ferry and toll if the bus travel on a ferry or through a toll road during the travel. It will be added to the ticket on the bus.

We ask kindergartens planning to travel by bus in a larger group, to let us know well beforehand. Note! Before 12.00 the day before your journey at the latest. You can find information about travelling in a larger group here.

Kindergarten groups by more than ten people are eligible for a group discount on the express boats, by 30 percent discount for children and adults in the group. The discount is only valid for adults and children, and not people that qualify for a concessionary discount. However, they can help constitute a group receiving the discount.

Student attending high school or higher education - single ticket

Students attending high school or higher education receive a 50% discount off a single ticket for one-way travel through all 12 zones in Møre og Romsdal. This also applies to journeys to and from Oppdal and Trondheim. For trips shorter than 12 zones, you can still buy a ticket for the 12 zones and get the discount. The discount is available during the ten days before school/semester start, and valid up to including the tenth day after end of school/end of semester.

Students attending high school or higher education receive a 25% discount off routes that run between Sunnmøre and Sogn and Fjordane.

You must have a valid school/student card or a student proof on mobile, with the semester fee paid, to be entitled to a student discount. The discount cannot be combined with any other discounts.

Apprenticies and people taking Norwegian language tuition do not have the right to a student discount.

Student attending high school or higher education - period ticket

Students attending high school or higher education receive a 40% discount off a period ticket for a chosen/fixed journey, however the discount does not apply to the "Area" period tickets category. The discount is available during the ten days before school/semester start, and valid up to including the tenth day after end of school/end of semester. 

You must have a valid school/student card or a student proof on mobile, with the student fee paid, to be entitled to a student discount. The discount cannot be combined with any other discounts.

Students attending high school that are not entitled to free school transport between their place of residence and school, can buy the period ticket for the young, called FRAM Ung. You can find information about FRAM Ung here.

The student discount does not apply to apprentices and people taking Norwegian language tuition, but FRAM Ung can be an alternative.

Pram

It's not necessary to purchase a ticket for baby prams brought aboard. Note that it's up to the driver to decide if there's enough room on the bus.

Wheelchair

It's not necessary to purchase a ticket for wheelchairs. Your ticket covers the wheelchair as well.

Dog

A dogs has the same fare as for children on board buses, (the same applies to a cat as well). You do not have to pay for guide dogs travelling with blind/visually impaired passengers, service dogs with proof of service and police dogs travelling with a paying police officer in uniform. On the express boat you do not have to pay for a dog (nor a cat).

Bicycle

Bicycles cost the same fare as for children on board buses. Be aware that the possibility of bringing bicycles on buses may be limited. During periods with many passengers, bicycles are not prioritized. If you have a folding bicycle, you can bring it on board as a hand luggage at no extra cost. Bicycles that you can be dismantled or folded can be put in the bus baggage compartment.

You do not need to pay for bicycles on express boats.

Concessionary discount

The concessionary discount applies to all those over 67 years of age, the blind or those receiving disability pensions under the National Insurance Act. The concessionary discount is 50% off the single adult fare.

Spouses, registered partners and cohabitants travelling with a person entitled to a concessionary discount are also entitled to receive the same discount.  The concessionary discount cannot be combined with other ticket discounts.

You must be able to show an approved form of ID when using the concessionary discount.

Special needs attendant

A special needs passenger and attendant can travel together on one ticket (must show proof of service). The proof of service must be printed by the municipality in which the disabled person resides.

Group discount

A group of two or more passengers travelling together and buying a ticket at the same time receive a 25% discount off single tickets when the journey spans seven or more zones. The group discount is valid only for children and adults, and not others who qualify for a military or concessionary discount for example. However, they can help constitute a group receiving the discount.

Family

On the express boats you receive a family discount when the a family (parents and children) travel together. An adult family member pay for en adult ticket, spouse/partner and member of the household between 16 and 25 years old receive a 50 percent discount on an adult ticket, children under 16 years old receive a 50 percent discount on the child ticket.

Tour

For an express boat tour without disembarkation you receive a 35 percent tour discount on an ordinary round trip ticket. The main rule is that the traveler must be on board during the entire tour.

24-hour period ticket

The 24-hour period ticket gives you a 20% discount off the price for a period ticket to that area.

Military personnel and civilian conscript

Military personnel and civilian conscripts receive a 50% discount off a single adult ticket. A military ID is necessary as proof of service. Call-up orders will do as proof the first time travelling for conscription. Military personnel discounts cannot be combined with any other discounts.

Interrail/Eurail

If you have a valid Interrail/Eurail pass, you receive a 50% discount off a regular adult ticket on the train buses FRAM Ekspress route 420 Åndalsnes-Molde and FRAM Ekspress route 681 Åndalsnes-Ålesund.

Penalty fares

All passengers are responsible for possessing a valid ticket and the relevant supporting documentation for a discounted ticket. If you are not in possession of a valid ticket and supporting documentation in a ticket check, you will be required to pay a NOK 500 penalty fare in addition to the ticket, when paying on the spot. If billed after the fact, the penalty fare is increased to NOK 750.
