Ticket overview

Below you find information about public transport tickets available when travelling with FRAM. You can find information about ticket prices and information about the discounts available on tickets here.

You can buy tickets 1) right on your mobile using the FRAM app, 2) by visiting Kristiansund traffic terminalMoa traffic terminal and Molde traffic terminal, 3) when boarding a bus, express boat or ferry. 4) You can also buy period tickets or add credit to your travelcard through the online store.

Note! Due to the corona measures for public transport, you can not pay cash for the ticket. You can find information about the public transport service during the corona period here.

The FRAM app

In the FRAM app, you can use your mobile phone to buy either a single ticket or a period ticket. You can buy adult, child, concessionary, student and bicycle tickets right in the app. It is simple and easy. You can find information about the FRAM app here.

Travelcard

Travelcards are for both those who travel often and rarely. It is a plastic card that stores your electronic ticket. You can also add an amount of money to the credit on the travelcard and use that credit to purchase single tickets and period tickets. You can find information about the travelcard here.

Bank card

You can use both debit and credit cards to buy tickets on board buses, express boats and at the traffic terminals. You can find information about the traffic terminals here

Child ticket

Child tickets are for children and the young from 4 to 15 years of age.

Adult ticket

Adult tickets are for those who are 16 years of age or older. 

Concessionary ticket

Concessionary tickets are for those over 67 years of age, the disabled with a disability pension under the National Insurance Act and the blind.  This ticket is also for a spouse, registered partner or cohabitant travelling with a person entitled to a concessionary ticket.

Student ticket

Student tickets are for full-time students studying at a Norwegian upper secondary school, college, university, etc. You need a valid school/student card or a student proof on mobile, with the semester fee paid, to qualify for a student discount. The student discount is available during the ten days before school/semester start, and valid up to including the tenth day after end of school/end of semester. Student cards from the place of study are considered valid throughout January for the autumn semester, and throughout August for the spring semester.

Student tickets are also for Norwegian citizens with a valid student card and paid semester fees from a place of study abroad. The ANSA card is not valid documentation. In addition, student tickets are for foreign citizens studying in Norway (with valid ID, student card and paid semester fees).

Student tickets are not valid for apprenticies and people taking Norwegian language tuition.

Single ticket

Single tickets are most suitable for those travelling occasionally. You can purchase single tickets with cash, a bank card, credit on a travel card and by using the FRAM app.

24-hour period ticket

24-hour period tickets are valid for Molde, Ålesund or Kristiansund. They are valid for 24 hours from the time the ticket is purchased/activated. You can travel for an unlimited number of journeys within the city zone(s) as long as the ticket is valid.

FRAM Ung

FRAM Ung is a period ticket for youths and young adults up to and including 24 years of age, that is until the day you turn 25 years of age. Young people can use this ticket for unlimited travel by bus, express boat and ferry in the county of Møre and Romsdal. The ticket is valid for 30 days from the date the ticket is purchased or the date you choose to have the ticket activated.

You can buy FRAM Ung in the FRAM app and always have your ticket with you on the mobile phone. You can also buy the ticket at the traffic terminals or the bus/express boat, if you prefer to have the ticket on your travel card. You can find information about the FRAM app and travel card here.

Note! If your FRAM Ung ticket is on a travelcard and you take a ferry, you need to keep the receipt handy as proof that you have a valid ticket.

Note! FRAM Ung is invalid on the airport express bus in Ålesund and the night buses. On Kystekspressen (the Coastal Express Boat), FRAM Ung is only valid between Kristiansund and Kjørsvikbugen.

Note! FRAM Ung is invalid on transport services in Møre and Romsdal that are not part of the public transport scheme.

Note! If you are traveling out of and into the county of Møre and Romsdal you need to buy an extra ticket from the driver that cover the distance out of and into the county. You can find information about the FRAM Ekspress routes here.

In Rindal, which became part of Trøndelag from 01.01.19, you can not use FRAM Ung anymore.

In Halsa, which became part of Trøndelag from 01.01.20, you can only use FRAM Ung when you travel with FRAM Ekspress in the zones 870 Betna and 871 Halsa.

In Hornindal, which became part of Møre and Romsdal from 01.01.20, you can use FRAM Ung.

FRAM Student

For the school year 2020-2021, FRAM initiates a trial project with the ticket product FRAM Student - a period ticket for students up to and including 29 years of age, that is until the day you turn 30 years of age. FRAM Student will cost NOK 500 for 30 days and provides free travel by bus, express boat and ferry in Møre og Romsdal during the school year.

The conditions for being able to purchase FRAM Student are the same as for student discounts in general, i.e. the traveler must have a valid student certificate and receipt for paid semester fee.

FRAM Student will be available in the FRAM app and for the travelcard.

Note! The first possible date of use is 17th August 2020.

FRAM Student will initially be available for a trial period for the school year 2020-2021. Afterwards there will be an evaluation to assess whether this will be a permanent ticket.

30-day period ticket

You can use 30-day period tickets for unlimited round-trip travel by bus in the area where the period ticket is valid for 30 days (from the date the ticket is purchased/activated). All tolls are included in the ticket. You can find information about the travelcard here. It is also possible to buy a 15-day period ticket for some bus routes in the county.

Note! Period tickets are invalid on the airport express bus in Ålesund and the night buses.

Area period ticket

Period tickets for an area can be used for unlimited round-trip travel by bus within a chosen geographical area for 30 days (from the date the ticket is purchased/activated). An Area period ticket is not valid on board night buses.

Currently you can choose among these geographical areas:

  • Periodebillett Ålesund, Giske, Sula*
  • Periodebillett Kristiansund
  • Periodebillett Kristiansund/Frei
  • Periodebillett Molde
  • Periodebillett Hjelset/Kleive
  • Periodebillett Elnesvågen-Molde
  • Periodebillett Ørsta/Volda
  • Periodebillett Sykkylven
  • Periodebillett Ulsteinvik sentrum

* In Ålesund the ticket is valid from Hessa and Skarbøvik in west, to Magerholm and Glomset in east, to Fremmerholen and Brusdalen, and to Taftesund on Ellingsøya.

Note! Period tickets are invalid on the airport express bus in Ålesund and the night buses.

Night bus

The night buses in Ålesund and Molde have separately priced tickets. You can find information about the prices for the night buses here.

Note! No discount or period tickets are valid on board night buses.

Dog ticket

Dog tickets are the same price as child tickets on board buses, and the owner can buy a dog ticket from the driver. Cats in cages are also allowed. You can find the conditions for travelling with a dog on the FRAM Ekspress routes here.

Guide dogs, police dogs and other service dogs on active duty can travel without a separate ticket. 

Sending package

You can send a package by bus or express boat using either a freight stamp or pay for the package on the bus/express boat. The price for sending a package are based on zone rates. You can find information about the prices for sending packages by bus or express boat here.

The sender must always pay for freight when sending a package by bus. The recipient is responsible for being at the agreed stop or quay to receive the package when the bus/express boat arrives. Packages/goods not collected are returned to where they were sent from/reception office.

Transit ticket and transfer

You can buy a combination ticket from FRAM for travelling over longer distances by bus, called a transit ticket. You can also use the ticket for further travel in the last zone shown on the ticket, as long as the ticket has not expired (usually within 60 minutes after the time of arrival). Example: if you have bought a ticket from Ålesund to Molde with FRAM Ekspress, you can continue the trip on the bus lines for Molde town. You can find information about transfers here.

Period ticket for express boat and bus

This period ticket combines travel by express boat and bus. It is available for several route combinations. You can find information about combination tickets and prices here.

Period ticket for bus and ferry

This period ticket combines travel by bus and ferry. Note! It is only valid aboard the ferry when the bus is part of the public transport journey. You can find information about combination tickets and prices here.

Penalty fares

All passengers are responsible for possessing a valid ticket and the relevant supporting documentation for a discounted ticket. If you are not in possession of a valid ticket and supporting documentation in a ticket check, you will be required to pay a NOK 500 penalty fare in addition to the ticket, when paying on the spot. If billed after the fact, the penalty fare is increased to NOK 750.
