Asked for BankID in the FRAM app? Use Vipps as payment method to avoid it.

Do you have to frequently identify yourself with BankID when purchasing a ticket in the FRAM app? If you choose Vipps as payment method you will not have to use BankID except from the first time you install Vipps on your phone.

Why are you being asked to provide BankID?

The BankID requirement is a result of new and stricter rules for identity control in connection with purchases made with debit and credit cards in a EU directive. It is the banks - not FRAM - that controls this identiy check.

The new rules apply for the whole of Europe, and the goal is to protect customers from card fraud. Customers may experience that they more often have to confirm their purchases with BankID. This applies to all purchases made by payment cards - not only to purchases in the FRAM app. The amount limit and how often you are asked for BankID can vary from bank to bank. If you use a credit card you may also be asked to provide the CVC/CVV code for the card.

How to pay with Vipps in the FRAM app

Before you can pay with Vipps in the FRAM app you must have Vipps installed on your phone. If you don't have Vipps, you must download the Vipps app from App Store (iPhone) or Google Play (Android).

When Vipps is installed on the phone, you should automatically get Vipps up as a possible payment method in the FRAM app. When purchasing a ticket, you find the ticket you want to buy in the normal way, and then choose Vipps as payment method. In this article you can find more information about how to install and use Vipps in the FRAM app.

If you can't or do not want to use Vipps

If you don't want to or are unable to use Vipps as payment method and want to pay with a debit card, you must be able to identify yourself with BankID.

Alternatively, you can get a travel card/value card. You can get a card on the bus/express boat, at the traffic terminals and by contacting FRAM customer centre on +47 71 28 01 00. On a travel card you can have a period ticket or a value that you deduct from each time you buy a ticket.

Note! If for example you have children who have saved your debit card as payment method in the FRAM app, they will not be able to confirm the purchase with BankID. In that case you must make sure they can use other payment methods.
