1051 Småge-Orta-Finnøya-Sandøya-Ona: permanent residents and commuters get priority on the ferry
From 1 July, the inhabitants living on the islands of Ona, Sandøy and Orta - and the milk tank from Orta - will be given priority on the connection.
The scheme will ensure that permanent residents and commuters are not hindered in their travels to and from the islands.
Introduces booking
From Friday 1 July, we will introduce seat reservations on the ferry connection. The crew on the ferry is familiar with all permanent residents, and in the beginning you can - depending on where you travel from - do one of two things:
- Residents (living on Ona, Sandøy and Orta) traveling from Ona or Småge: Meet up at the ferry departure and let the crew know.
- Residents (living on Ona, Sandøy and Orta) who travel from Orta, Finnøy or Sandøya: Call the ferry no later than 20 in the evening before departure to make a reservation.
In first instance the solution works with the crew's knowledge of the local travelers. But together with Ålesund and Aukra municipalities, we will have a "resident passport" made for permanent residents, which will be used for beeing prioritized on the ferry.
Consider carpooling or traveling without a car
We believe there may be an increase in the number of vehicles remaining on the connection this summer. Especially for those traveling to Ona, we ask travelers to consider carpooling or traveling without a car, if possible.
Considering immediate action at Småge
We are considering immediate measures at Småge ferry quay, to meet the increased traffic on the ferry connection. Among other things, to lower the speed limit towards the ferry quay from today's 80 km/h. The process is already underway.
Other measures we want to take are, with simple steps, to facilitate more parking spaces.
