Waiting on parts for the ferry visor
The installation of a visor to help prevent splashes of sea water on the ferry in the connection Aukra–Hollingsholmen, is postponed due to delayed delivery of steel and hydraulic parts.
At the end of January this year, FRAM in Møre and Romsdal county and Fjord1 reported that the ferry MF Norangsfjord was due for annual maintenance at a shipyard in week 11. The plan was to also install a visor that should reduce the amount of sea water splashing onto the ferry deck. For some time now, passengers, business owners and politicians in Aukra have requested a solution for this problem.
Now Fjord1 reports that they cannot carry out the installation of the visor as planned. The reason for this is delayed delivery of steel and hydraulic parts needed for the operation.
– Based on the information we and Fjord1 have today, it seems that we can hopefully get this in place around week 18 or 19, says Olav Arne Vatne, advisor for operations at FRAM in Møre and Romsdal county.
More time than predicted
Many have expressed frustration because it has taken time to resolve the situation. Both the process of finding a solution that will work and shipyard capacity have affected this.
– We fully understand that people are frustrated, and we regret that it is going to take more time than we predicted at the end of January. Both FRAM and Fjord1 wants to resolve this as quickly as possible, says Vatne.
