The Atlantic Ocean Route for cyclists

The National Bicycle Route 1/EuroVelo 1 has been named "Atlanterhavsruta" - the Atlantic Ocean Route. The route goes along the coast and across several islands between Kristiansund and Ålesund, providing a unique close encounter with the sea and the coastal landscape. The route includes an express boat and several ferry connections.

Here you can find a map of the Atlantic Ocean Route for cyclists.

Travelling by express boat and ferry

From Ålesund, the National Bicycle Route starts by express boat to Hamnsund in Ålesund municipality. Further on towards Molde there are several crosings by ferry.

Note! It is not allowed to bicycle through the Atlantic Ocean Tunnel outside Kristiansund. The tunnel is long, undersea and very steep.
